This Sprint was the first one under Release 2 of my Music Oasis. Release 2 is meant to be released at some point as an Alpha release of the game to the general public. In order to do this, we first needed to make a Steam Store Page so that people could discover the game and potentially buy it. The Steam process for building a Store Page is very detailed and there are a lot of guidelines and videos on what needs to be done. There were a number of graphics of specific sizes that needed to be made in order to fit into the format of the Steam Page. In addition Trailer Videos, Screenshot and Tutorial Videos were also produced. During this process of making these many “How To” videos many small bugs were uncovered and addressed during this sprint. Here is a video on what the Steam Page looks like and the process we used:

An initial Trailer was made that shows many of the Venues in the game with Dance Events being held. This was made to give people a feel of the various look and feel of the game and what a dance experience would look like. These featured screenshots. We will make a full video showing these DJ dances and effects in the future.

We also began making a number of tutorials on how to play the game. These tutorials, which were aimed to be at about a minute each, were put in a playlist on our YouTube site. These also will be eventually put into our new Tutorial Mode that we are planning in the game. The Tutorial Mode will replace the existing Career Mode. Here is a link to the Tutorials:

Having to create these tutorials meant we exercised a lot of older code and a few bugs popped up that we had to fix. So, at this point the game is as stable as it has been in a long time. This a good spot for us to start planning our Closed Alpha rollout that we wanted to do this summer. That will be the focus in each one of the sprints coming up. Along with more thinking on branding, release strategy, pricing and support of the game on Steam. Oh and also a few more features ….. lol.
