This is the first sprint release for the myMO Major Release 0, Minor Release 0, Sprint 1.  Hence, Release 0.0.1.  This was a normal two-week development sprint.  The major development tasks completed were:

  • Broke out a stand-alone template to be used by crew members wanting to experiment with DMX lighting and building Light Show Sequences.  This template can be downloaded from the Crew google drive.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bGYvDCFNC0
  • Designed and split the planned Looper from the DJ Control Panels.  Programmed these to be accessed from the new Music Tab in the main UI on the right hand side.
  • Tested directly sending music to UE4 using Virtual Cables and VoiceMeeter software to capture Mixxx output and have it come in through the microphone input of Unreal Engine.  This is to test direct music playing into the game versus the steaming video approach that the Media Player we built use.  This was used to start playing with reactive meshes and particle effects in the game.  This video shows the video coming in through the microphone driving some Meshes to change size and color using a Fast Fourier Transform for Frequency Analysis and an amplitude driven effect as well.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnH2mz3YUgg
  • Built the first attempt at integrating Digital Audio Workstations (DAW) and controlling them from the game.  Basically, the game acts like a control surface and controls a looper that we implemented in the free and commonly used DAW named Cakewalk.  This is the same approach that DJs use to control applications on their PC from their physical DJ equipment.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T813_Ciu9g8
  • Built and added a Fog Effect to the DMX based Controller.  The fog is a Cascade Particle effect that we added blueprints to, so that the DJ could control the Fog thickness, glow and color from the DJ Lights User Interface.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FC_3o6Qglw
  • Placed and animated avatars in the Rave Cave build to test static NPC characters.  Basically, it is just animated skeletal meshes that are dancers.  This was done to shoot some videos.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2oOogL87Ws
  • Shot a splash video, showing off the Rave Cave.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWikzyGjpsw
