This sprint was the last sprint related to the infrastructure tasks to move away from the AWS database for persistent data storage to either SAV files or csv files. This sprint’s focus was to move the Light Cue and Light Shows from the AWS data tables to csv files on the player’s hard drive. The reason for doing this was firstly to get off of AWS and secondly to allow easier creation of light shows for game players by letting them edit csv files to create or change a light show. Previously, the player would use a pretty hard to use menu in the game to try and build the light show by saving light cues and then arranging them into a light show by adding a delay for each light cue. While this worked it was not very intuitive and was somewhat problematic.
The light shows now will utilize csv files with the actual light settings in them. This will allow players to use excel or google sheets to manipulate the light shows and easily copy, duplicate, delete or change lights within the show. Basically they are just working with a spreadsheet to build and change their light shows they want to play. Also, this sprint the replication of lights hopefully is now fixed and all players in multiplayer party mode should be able to see a light show whether it is being build manually or is being played from a light show csv file. Here is a video showing how players will utilize the light cue log (which stores all light cues created from a manual light control session) and then combines them into a .csv light show file.
