DrFran Babcock
DrFran, a retired mental health professional, has been involved with Virtual Worlds since stumbling on Second Life in 2006. Since that time, she has never wavered from her hobby interest in creating 3D Content, worlds, clothing and experiences, and raising money for The American Cancer Society as a team member for Virtual Relay for Life. She has been involved in the running of virtual discussion groups in the open source worlds of High Fidelity, Vircadia, TivoliCloudVR, and the new Overte. In addition to open source endeavors she has created worlds in Sansar and is learning Unreal Engine.
DrFran has her PhD from New York University and has conducted research that has appeared in peer-reviewed journals. She has presented throughout the United States on the topic of team building and patient safety. However, her first love is the people she has met in the Metaverse around the world. Many of the people with whom she still communicates are people she met in her first years in Second Life.
DrFran builds in Blender and uses Adobe Substance Painter and other Adobe tools. In addition, she is interested in running more verbal groups, and promoting mental health anti-stigma activities in the Metaverse. The future is very exciting.
